Vacations
are great, but sometimes the process of getting to your destination can be the
hardest part, regardless of your mode of transportation. It seems like any little
thing to make it easier and a bit more fun (especially when traveling with children)
is a welcome distraction. Earlier this year I went on a vacation with several
friends. When we all met at the airport, one friend gave us all personalized luggage
tags. They were brightly colored and reflected our destination. Tied to our bags,
these tags made it really easy to pick out our luggage on the airport carousel.
Even for road trips, personal luggage tags can make it easy to find bags in the
well-packed car and encourage kids to be responsible for the bag with their name
on it. I thought this was such a fun idea that I asked her if I could share

Here's
how you get started: To get started, open
your browser and select Journaling Delights. Find the theme you need and select
one of the journaling boxes or tags. Select a
font, type in the name and address or other information for the tag. To
make it a little more colorful and fun, you can use a matching Alphabet for the
name on the tag. Once you have all the pieces
you need, move to the layout page and place the Journaling Delights image on the
page. Sizing the image is the next step, and this
is when you might want to look ahead and consider what kind of lamination you
plan to use. Small lamination pouches for luggage and other ID tags measure 4
¼ x 2 ½ but you need to be sure to make your actual tag smaller,
so that the lamination can seal properly on the edges; I would recommend nothing
larger than 2 ¼ x 3 ¾, allowing plenty of room on the edges and
some extra on one end for the hole to put the tie through. However, luggage tags
really could be any size (within reason of course) and you can simply cut off
the excess on larger sheets of lamination. When you do size the image, be sure
that the 'Constrained' box is checked for the width or height; this will keep
the image proportional as you adjust the opposite dimension. If
you have an Alphabet name, add it to the image on your layout page and size it
to fit the space on your tag. Print the layout
page and give the image a quick trim to the proper size. Since the images will
be laminated, printing on paper, rather than cardstock will help assure a good
seal, once laminated. You can take your luggage
tags to just about any copy shop to be laminated. Plastic loop ties are usually
provided but you can also use a matching ribbon, string or anything else that
will do the job securely.
There are lots of creative things
that you can use these tags for, in addition to luggage. Make special tags to
tie on kid's lunches or camping equipment. For anything that needs identification,
