The autumn months are by far, my favorite time of year. The warm color palette
of the changing leaves perfectly compliments the cool, crisp air and the clear,
blue, autumn skies. I get to pull the sweaters and sweatshirts down from the top
closet shelf. Kids are playing soccer and football on neighborhood and community
fields. The cheerleaders and marching bands are keeping us all in the game. Its
time for tailgate parties and the World Series. The fruits of the field are in
great supply at local markets. Its time to ensure that the great tastes
of summer stay with us through the winter by canning, bottling, and pickling your
family favorites. Weve been working and playing hard all summer, and fall
is a time to wind down. Even Mother Nature seems to relax a bit. And for me, the
holiday season really starts with Halloween.
Whatever you choose to do with the
season, be sure to keep your camera close at hand. The moments will not be forgotten.
Just a few weeks ago, I was going through some old pictures and came across photos
from what had been a fall tradition during college. On the first Saturday of every
October, my friends and I would go to one particular spot in the mountains and
spend the day. Wed hike around, have a picnic lunch and just enjoy each
others company. There was an old abandoned cabin and wagon which made great
props for photos! It has been many years, but looking at the pictures brought
back all of the memories of that particular activity and the value of those friendships.
Im still in touch with most of those friends and even called one, right
then, to reminisce. Before you know it, we will be caught up in the hustle
and bustle of the holidays. During these coming weeks, take some time to look
back at the memories you have created. All the time spent cropping and matting,
and trimming and cutting, finding that perfect alphabet for the title and just
the right accent seemed to take longer than it should have. But years down the
road, when you are looking back at your pictures, you will remember how much all
the time and effort was worth. Michelle@LetteringDelights.com

| Candy
corn has been around for more than 100 years. George Renninger invented the popular
confection in the 1880s. Years ago, candy corn was only made seasonally, from
March to November. Technological advancement in the candy corn making process
has provided a way for variations of candy corn to be made for many other holidays,
but it is still a Halloween favorite. According to the National Confectioners
Association, how many pounds of candy corn will be produced this year?"In
what year did the United States Congress pass legislation proclaiming the first
Sunday after Labor Day as National Grandparents Day?" Send your
answer to fontrivia@LetteringDelights.com
with grin & win on the subject line. Please include your mailing
address and your choice from the following products: Scrapbook Snips, Borders
& Backgrounds or Typing Delights CDs. All correct answers will be entered
into a random drawing. | Congratulations
to Tina Timiney (Peoria, AZ), Jennifer Lemen (Riverside, CA) and Suzan Kiesewetter
(Norman, IL) who all answered last months trivia question correctly. They
found out that the US Congress officially designated the first Sunday after Labor
Day as National Grandparents Day in 1978.
