I hope everyone enjoyed
their Independence Day celebrations! Picnics, barbecues,
parades, fireworks--whatever your activities included, I
bet you took lots of pictures. I started the day very early
at a hot air balloon event. I came away with almost 100 pictures
and fell in love with my digital camera all over again.
Not all of my pictures will make it to the printer, but
the great thing is I could just snap away and go through
them later. I deleted some pictures right from the camera
because I got a better angle or just knew they were not
very good. I deleted more in a second round of eliminations
when I could see them larger on the computer. And in a
day or so, I’ll take another look and pick only the
very best ones for prints to use in a layout or two.
It’s amazing the things that scrapbookers will do
for a layout. In addition to taking more pictures than
you would ever use, do you find yourself planning the layout
as you take the pictures? Do you take care to snap portrait
(vertical) and landscape (horizontal) photos, knowing both
are required for a good layout? As soon as you realize
you are creating the layout in your mind as you take the
photos, there is no turning back: Scrapbooking has become
more than just a hobby!

Back This Month – Alphabet Contest! |

Now that you know why our team has been
extra busy, with projects such as Card
Delights, the Creative
Delights Companion and new transparent alphabets and
Journaling Delights, you can see why our attention was
diverted from monthly alphabet contests.
But some of you really miss the contests. This month,
our alphabet contest is back. Send us your idea for an
alphabet, and we’ll pick our three favorite ideas
to turn them into products for release in August. If your
idea is selected, you’ll get your finished alphabet
and a $25 gift certificate to Lettering Delights.

Coming This Fall |

Thank you to everyone who sent us suggestions
for the images and places that could be represented on
alphabets specially designed for Alabama, Alaska, Arizona,
Arkansas, California and Colorado. We’ve collected
great ideas and look forward to releasing the first of
50 state alphabets this fall.
As we start work on additional states, we’ll ask
