It
started as a Mother’s Day project but grew into something
much greater as my own mother recently started making a
list of all of the women she knew who have touched her
life on some way. As I read her long list of names they
included women from her childhood and growing up years;
women who she know as a young mother herself and women
who have been in her life more recently. There are relatives;
women with whom she spent only a brief time; women who
are lifelong friends. With this list in hand she created
a card and verse, and has been working diligently for days
preparing them to be mailed. It’s been a labor of
love for her that I know will be appreciated by all those
who receive it.
Every woman at some time mothers children who may not
be her own and I’m sure we have all been recipients
of those mothering words or actions. Mother’s Day
is a great time to let not only your Mother, but other
important women in your life know how important they are
to you. Make a card and send a note; something they can
keep to read again and again, and be reminded that they
made a difference to you.
